Time To Adjust The Sails
“You can’t change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust the sails to reach your destination.”
I MUST CONFESS, I’M A LATE-COMER TO ALL FORMS OF SOCIAL MEDIA. THE TRUTH IS, SOME FORMS OF SOCIAL MEDIA HAD COME AND GONE BEFORE I EVER LOOKED INTO SIGNING UP (REMEMBER MYSPACE??).
So if you’re wondering why I am finally deciding to catch up… It’s simple – I want the Eastern District to be a movement, not just a loosely affiliated organization or institution. I want the district to be alive and life giving: engaging and interactive, never static or stuck.
And in order for me to do my part in making sure we are moving forward and not stuck – I have to get unstuck! I need to communicate with you so that you can know what’s going on around the district, what opportunities for growth are available, and what we have to offer one another. Hands down, social media is the easiest, most consistent and cost effective way I can do it. This is where you are…
I plan to start out with a weekly blog that will aim to inform you of some things going on around the district, inspire you by linking you to some stories of how God is at work in some of our ministries, invite you to join some online community groups that will focus in on areas of ministry that are of specific interest to you, and tell you how you can join us in praying for one another.
I’m certainly not planning to try and do all that in every blog (they will normally be short posts!). I’m also not planning on doing just the blog and hoping to create a movement while sitting behind a computer. No way! I still look forward to coming to cluster meetings, visiting churches, hosting seminars, retreats and our annual conference. But change has come and its time for me to adjust the sails in my life as a growing disciple and leader. So here I go…
Will you go with me? Will you join me in helping connect our district? I plan to host the blog, but look forward to some of you joining me in writing for it. This is our EDA blog, not just mine.
I’m praying for you that you abide in Christ and experience the joy and fruitfulness that comes with that.
On Mission With You,
Eddie
