CHURCH OPERATIONS
The Art of Budgeting For Ministry Success - Danielle Wittmaier & Joel Lingenfelter:
Join us for an informative session on budgeting strategies that can help your ministry thrive! We’ll dive into how to create a clear vision for the upcoming year, get your leadership team involved, and make sure your budget reflects your ministry’s goals and values. We’ll also cover important topics like strategic planning, evaluating programs, fair compensation practices, and tips to steer clear of common budgeting pitfalls.
Being Intentional About The Details - Dan Spino & Matt Saxinger:
Have you ever been excited about a new initiative but didn’t see the results you hoped for? Have you repeatedly run into the same issue that always seems to trip up how you lead? Often times these issues stem from a breakdown in intentionality. This breakout will talk through what it means to be intentional in how we lead – evaluating how we are aligned and understanding the benefits of "going slow to get there fast.” We will equip you with how to ask good questions and challenge some of your leadership practices, while pointing out the benefits of paying attention to the details at every level. This is a great discussion for anyone in any position. We look forward to learning to be more intentional together.
Maximizing Your Church Facility As A Tool For Ministry - Zach Guyton:
This session will focus on principles and practices we should consider about our church buildings as the culture drifts further away from organized religion. We will explore when and how it might be a legitimate option to use our buildings as an additional income stream.
ELDERS AND BOARDS
The “Right Stuff” of Elder Boards: 10 Tips for Ensuring a Healthy Elder Team and a Sane Senior Pastor - Guy Kneebone:
What is the secret sauce to making it work with elders and the senior pastor, as well as the rest of the staff? Can it really work? It can, but you have to know the right stuff. Come and hear the 10 tips to ensuring your elders (and senior pastor) have that right stuff.
Resolving Conflict Begins and Ends With Us - John Nesbitt:
Unresolved conflict is one of, if not the, greatest persisting threats to the unity of the church, and the most common cause of church splits. We'll tackle this issue head-on by first discussing the conflicts that pose the greatest danger for the church. Then we'll unpack peacemaking— why it's so essential; what it is and isn't; and how to pursue it. Hopefully, we will also learn from our past successes and mistakes. Conflict is in our churches, and we must own it!
How To Make Value Driven Decisions - Josh Ott:
In this breakout, you'll learn how defining your core values with your board empowers you to make proactive, strategic choices rather than reactive decisions. This approach not only helps prevent complications and safeguard your church's well-being but also guides you in leading with clarity and purpose, ensuring a healthier and more resilient church community.
EQUIPPING WOMEN
Helping People Grow In Different Stages of Faith - Deb Hinkel:
In 1 John 2, John writes about children, young men, and fathers on their journey of faith. His words reveal that there are different stages in our walk with Jesus. This session will look at the different stages that are common to individuals on their journey of faith and help us think through how a women’s ministry can help people at each stage of their journey.
How To Study and Teach The Bible - Rose Davis:
In this interactive workshop, we will use a passage of scripture to help you study and prepare a presentation that is informational, transformational, and applicational.
Ministering To Women In Pain - Ashley Welborn:
Join Ashley for a discussion about how to support the women in your church struggling with mental health battles and trauma. She will address abuse prevention, care for victims, and women’s mental health issues. There will be time to ask questions.
Theology refresher
What Are Nations and What Are They For - Steve Bryan:
Evangelicals have a rich legacy stretching back to the Reformation of pressing the urgency and necessity of a personal relationship with God. This legacy has also fueled significant theological reflection on the nature of the church and its importance within God's purpose. But evangelicals have thought relatively little about nations despite the fact that much of Scripture unfolds not simply as the story of God's dealings with people but of God's dealings with peoples. In the absence of clear Scriptural guidance about God's purposes for nations and peoples, Christians are exposed to political winds that threaten to move them away from Christ. The aim of this 3-session workshop is to equip participants to help others think about the relationship between Christian identity and national identity.
worship & production
Building Bonds With Your Senior Leader - Ryan Bailey:
The relationship between worship leader and senior pastor (or campus pastor) is one of utmost importance for any church, both on and offstage. In this session we will take a look at how to identify signs of both healthy and unhealthy worship leader/senior leader relationships, as well as explore ways that we as worship leaders can work to cultivate a healthy relationship with our senior leader.
Being Led By The Spirit, Not Current Trends - Jenny Castner:
Navigating today’s fast-paced and ever-changing worship culture in a way that balances relevancy and orthodoxy is challenging. In this breakout session, we will focus on what it means to walk in step with the Spirit as we lead and serve the Church.
Meaningful Worship Without The Budget - J.J. Meyers:
A worship leader’s desire should always be to lead meaningful worship in their congregation. Whether you have an abundance of resources or limited resources, the worship of our God does not need to be limited. This breakout session will consider the qualities necessary in true worship of our great God.
small(er) town pastors
Small Church Deep Dive - Chris Dolson:
In this 3-session breakout, seasoned pastor, Chris Dolson, will deep dive into what it means to be a solo-pastor or serve a church in a smaller town. Chris will share from his own personal experience both the joys and pain points of this calling. These sessions will be instructive and encouraging with ample time for Q&A.
next generation
Connecting The Generations In Your Church - Josh Balsamo:
In our rapidly evolving culture the generations are seemingly more detached than ever before. How can we begin to embrace God’s desire for an intergenerational church? In this breakout, we will examine this biblical vision and discuss some practical ways to carry it out in our own church communities.
Connecting With Your Lead Pastor - Trent Williams:
Ministry is way more life-giving and effective when you are working/collaborating in a healthy environment that promotes team unity and vision. How we connect with the lead pastor directly impacts the health of the team. This session is designed to move a pastoral staff towards stronger relationships and higher trust in one another.
Creating & Connecting In Healthy Community - Jaime Saez:
In a world marked by deep divisions, the task of building and sustaining a healthy, Christ-centered student ministry community can feel daunting. How can we cultivate and nurture such a community within our local ministry, where volunteers, student leaders, teens, parents, and the wider church family experience meaningful connections? In this breakout session, we will explore how the Gospel transforms community life and provides a foundation for healthy relationships in our student ministry, discussing both Biblical principles and practical strategies for fostering a thriving community.
kids ministry
Volunteer Recruitment: Bane or Blessing? - Jenn Robinson:
“You can't make it tomorrow morning?!" "Does anybody follow through on their commitments anymore?" "It's the 10% rule-10% of the people do 100% of the work; all churches struggle with it." Sound familiar? Finding volunteers to meet all the needs in ministry can be an overwhelming task. Let's talk through how this role can go from the hot potato of responsibilities (don't get stuck with it) to a source of joy.
Mental Health Matters: A Guide For Kid Min - Josh Cervone:
We have all read the recent conversation about an escalating mental health crisis in our nation. This is generally focused on the mental health of the kids and adolescents in our communities and schools. But we are often left with questions such as: What is mental health? What are the mental health challenges our kids are facing? What are the parents we work with doing about this? This session will be a guide through the current state of mental health in our nation, some of the main challenges kids and adolescents are facing, and what we can be doing in our ministries to support the families we know, love, and minister to each week.
Beyond Programing To Transformed Lives - Daryl Peters:
Ministry with children can feel like you’re in WASH-RINSE-REPEAT mode. Weekly classes, nurseries, mid-week gatherings, bible stories, songs, snacks and more can become a dull tone in our ears that we tune out. What if there was a way to re-invigorate your soul to see beyond the programing within the ministry and get to a place of transformation in children’s lives, in their family’s lives, in your volunteer’s lives. Would you be willing to take some risks? Would you be willing to fail to succeed? Be encouraged and challenged to go beyond.
preaching
Preaching & Theology - Greg Strand:
In preaching a sermon, the people of God hear one of the final results of the pastor’s preparation, the sermon. But the sermon is preceded by prayer and study, consisting of exegesis, biblical, theological, historical theology, systematic theology, and then, finally, pastoral theology. That consists of the teaching of the text of Scripture applied to the life (lives) of the people of God in the church and personal lives. In this breakout, grounded in the exegesis of the text of Scripture, we will focus on the various aspects of theology that undergirds and guides all of these interdependent disciplines which bear fruit in the sermon.
The Role of Pastoral Prayer During The Service - Paulo Freire:
We each have our liturgies in our worship service, whether contemporary or traditional. This breakout session deals with the importance of including in our worship service a time of focused and planned corporate prayer. Often referred to as the Pastoral Prayer, this element in the weekly worship of God is a key not only in worship but also in training in godliness and maturation.
Plagiarism And The Pulpit - Greg Scharf:
Is there a problem with plagiarism in the pulpit? We will answer that question by defining pulpit plagiarism, carefully nuancing that definition, and examining some excuses for doing it. This session will also explore the real reasons preachers are plagiarizing, why we should avoid it, and some constructive alternatives to counter it.
